Take a look at this article from the Philippine Star. Many people believe having a lot of surveillance cameras out in public is coming very close to a Big Brother situation, but in cases like these, how can you argue the fact that surveillance is necessary means to finding criminals? What are your thoughts?

Pinhole cameras are those cameras with a very small lens opening. It’s
designed to be a covert camera and can be easily hidden since the exposed
part is so small. It might be a small PC board, or it can be a flexible
snake camera. Either way, the main part of the camera is hidden inside or
behind some inconspicuous object in the room, while the tiny lens looks out
into the room.
Many of these covert cameras are so well designed for camouflage that a
person can look right at the camera’s location and never even know it’s
there. The ones built into electronic devices like DVD players hide the
lens behind the display panel. In these even upon close inspection it looks
like the IR receiver for the remote control.

I’ve always been interested in spy cams since I was kid watching James Bond movies. He always had little secret cameras for taking pictures of top secret documents and stuff like that. Spy cameras have come a long way since those days. Now there are spy cams that are so small they can build them into ordinary devices, clocks, radios, even sunglasses! How cool is that! I can now gather information just like a big time spy.

One of the coolest ones I’ve seen is built into the front of a DVD player, when someone is watching a movie, you can be watching them. Imagine giving someone a DVD player as a gift and it has a built-in secret camera. It’s true. I saw this camera at supercircuits.com for only $279. They had covert listening devices and video cameras that were so small you can hide them just about anywhere.
